Mystery Remains is Apogee’s fourth album. The music is a weird mixture of German folk, jazz, progressive rock, contemporary music and sometimes a bit of hard rock. People who like the music of bands like King Crimson, Van Der Graaf Generator and Peter Hamill, will probably also like the music of this German trio. The album consists of five rather long pieces; I like the guitar parts on the album the best. Apart from that, the music is sheer old-fashioned prog rock with a tendency to become boring. Especially the vocals of Arne Schaefer are rather tiresome and his German accent is even worse than that of Klaus Meine from The Scorpions. Mystery Remains is an album filled with commonplace prog rock clichés, no more no less.
