Coralspin is a modern English prog band and if you read their fact sheet you probably want to listen to Honey And Lava immediately. According to that sheet Coralspin sounds like Yes, Genesis, Kate Bush, Fairport Convention and Led Zeppelin. However, I only noticed influences of Fairport Convention, a band I really don't like; I simply haven't heard the other mentioned influences! Maybe this is wishful thinking as I only hear dull and predictable folk pop music with too much singing, too little musical diversity and nearly no solos whatsoever. Just listen to the opening track Sons Of The Sleeping Giant and you will fall asleep almost instantly. I have to admit that I'm not a fan of female singers, especially if they sound like Joni Mitchell, and lead vocalist Ellie Blyth actually sounds like her, so...

Most of the eight songs contain piano and vocals and they all sound alike: dull without any musical surprises at all. The only song which I can bear to listen to is called Sky's End. This is at least a bit 'proggy' and actually features a guitar solo. The rest of the album is sheer boredom; better said: not my cup of progressive rock tea!
