Elevenwire is a prog rock band put together by Ron Hughes (vocals, guitars, bass guitar) and Jonathan Hughes (vocals and keys) and long-time musical partner Jim Armstrong (guitars). Blood Red Sun is the band's debut album, and it also features Eric Gilette on drums. While listening to this album for the very first time I thought, wow, this sounds SO familiar as the prog rock music of Elevenwire instantly reminded me of the Neal Morse Band, OSI and even Dream Theater.

Blood Red Sun is not really an innovative album as everything sounds as if you already have heard it before, but there are definitely some good songs to enjoy here. Paradigm, the longest song of the album, is rather beautiful with its tempo changes and amazing guitar solo, while Kaleidoscope mixes classic and prog rock, reminding me of Spock's Beard, but overall, it really sounds all too familiar indeed, although the music is executed very well.
I think that this album will be sadly "overlooked" as the competition in this music genre is too tight and very keen, so it will be hard for Elevenwire to make a musical stand with Blood Red Sun.

For lovers of OSI, NMB and Dream Theater I would say: try it and I think that you will like this album for sure.
