Karcius is a Canadian prog metal band, hailing from Montreal and founded in 2001. Black Soul Sickness, their darkest and heaviest album by far is their seventh studio album and the album is a must have one for fans of Pain Of Salvation, Opeth, Riverside, Caligula's Horse, and Dream Theater. Karcius creates a dark, cinematic atmosphere on Black Soul Sickness with their killer riffs, powerful and harsh vocals and deep listening is essential if you want to appreciate this impressive album indeed. Black Soul Sickness, an immensely powerful and meaningful title, opens with the best track of the album, namely Wallow, an opus of almost 14 minutes showcasing everything this Canadian band is capable of, and that is a lot! Out Of Nothing is another great song, where prog metal meets rock, highlighting again the harsh, almost grungy vocals of Sylvain Auclair. Slow Down Son is a powerful ballad, with many piano passages, a warm melody, and inspired vocals. Karcius's music does not feature many solos, but the music is so intense that you probably will not miss them. Black Soul Sickness is Karcius's best album by far, so listen to it with your headphones at maximum volume and you will be blown away by the brilliance of this Canadian band for sure.
