[Humanised] is the sixth solo album by Kristoffer Gildenlöw, of course the brother of Daniel Gildenlöw of Pain Of Salvation. His new album is his heaviest album so far, as the sound is dark, the songs are emotional and the guitar riffs, hooks and melodies are mostly heavy indeed! Kristoffer is of course responsible for the vocals and various instruments, and he is assisted by Leo Margarit (drums), Daniel Magdic (guitar) and Thijmen van der Meer (guitar). Rendering, an instrumental piece is the overture of this album, and it is orchestral and packed with power chords galore. Next up Nothing Lasts Forever is an extremely cool track, featuring among others a nice, mellow guitar solo. Landfill, with an impressive guitar solo by Magdic, is a true prog metal track and the heavy riff stands out here. The Almosts, one of the longer tracks, has a mid-tempo groove that sticks in your head for a long time, while Intermezzo is truly mellow. Nothing Stays The Same, the best song according to yours truly, is a hard rocker with a big main riff and lots of orchestral passages creating a great atmosphere. The Fields features an impressive guitar solo by Thijmen van der Meer and Before I Fall Asleep- the longest track of the album - is complex, with lots of tempos and variety. Finally, the listener is treated to Binary, a piano-led electronic song, which end this album in a "strange" way. [Humanised] is a great, diverse prog metal album, featuring Kristoffer Gildenlöw at his best. Highly recommended indeed!
