This is the second album by the British quartet Nautilus. There is music on this release which is filled with weaving guitar textures and lots of keyboard passages and melodies. On four of the eight tracks 70’s seminal singer Peter Straker does the lead vocals, giving the songs a different sound than that of their first album. However I rather feel that the vocals are completely redundant and that Nautilus is better off without a singer. Just listen to the boring and horrible vocals in The Anachronist or the spoken vocals in Heart of Darkness. Musically speaking, this band is also not really my English cup of tea, as most of the songs are rather dull and uninspiring.

The best song is probably the last one, an epic of more than 10 minutes, which is a rather experimental song with lots of tempo changes and a sax solo which is too long in my humble opinion. Sorry, guys, better luck next time.
