Chris Ramsing's band PsychoYogi is hard to describe, Is it jazz? Yes, is it prog? Yes. Is it punk? Yes, but not in the one chord, we can't play way, but more in the fantastic, leftish, lyrics..

PsychoYogi have their roots firmly in the Canterbury scene. I love that. Their recent new album World Of Danger is an absolutely lovely listen. Chris has a singing voice that reminds me of Robert Wyatt without sounding like him. His guitar is never upfront, but it's there and without it the songs would sound totally different. The whole band sounds great, Drummer Justin Casey elevates every songs with very musical playing, while bassist Izzy Stylish is his exceptional companion. All songs are melodically lead by the trombone (Tim Smart) and violin (Ben Woodbine-Craft). These guys know their craft.

OK, how to describe the album? Think Soft Machine in their early days, think Hatfield and the North, think Matching Mole, but more the feel than the actual music.I won't go into the individual songs. They are hard to describe. But I've enjoyed and I'm still enjoying this album to the fullest. Gets better with every spin.

If you love the Canterbury scene, this is a must buy!
