Well, this tribute record differs from other ones. It's not a tribute to a specific band but to a genre: space rock. And then space rock in the broadest sense of the term with the emphasis on space and not so much on rock. A host of mainly unknown bands cover songs that can be loosely regarded as being space rock. Most of them do a fairly decent job, although not really remarkable. Exceptions are Vibravoid, who turn every song into their own brand of German space rock, Helicon making a nice up-tempo and rather heavy version of Neu!' s well-known track Hallogallo and finally Alpha Omega, who mixes the Hawkwind-tracks Transdimensional Man and Paradox in one big mush. All in all this is a nice, but not an essential effort.
